- My focus is on semantic communications in networked intelligent systems, applied to digital healthcare, swarm robotics, intelligent transport, and digital twins as part of the ERC-funded SONATA project.
- We develop decision-making algorithms for goal-oriented semantic and (kind of) intent-based access technologies, as well as semantic source coding and adaptive filtering, to enhance communication effectiveness. We also validate the practicality of our algorithms to improve effectiveness and energy efficiency in communication, drawing from obtained results and a range of knowledge, spanning communication theory and machine learning to Python programming.
- We have published our findings in one IEEE TCOM journal paper, one IEEE Comm. Letters journal paper, two IEEE ICC conference papers, and one IEEE GLOBECOM conference paper to date.
- Report to Prof. Marios Kountouris.

- As a member of the Modeling and Optimization group at the AI Research Lab, I worked on radio resource management (RRM) in MIMO-OFDM systems with hybrid beamforming, targeting beyond 5G networks and new WiFi generations.
- We developed practical solutions for resource allocation and multiuser scheduling in mmWave systems where all users cannot be served simultaneously due to radio system limitations. For this, we proposed learning-based user selection methods to reduce decision time and power consumption, while achieving higher sum-rate and long-term fairness compared to conventional combinatorial solutions. Finally, we implemented and validated our proposed scheduling solutions utilizing a state-of-the-art simulator.

- My initial focus was on the convergence of MIMO wireless systems and optical wireless technologies, aiming at 5G and beyond networks.
- We developed power allocation techniques in C-RAN cellular networks with cell-free mMIMO access and RF-FSO fronthaul layers. We then extended the work to UAV-assisted underwater sensor networks using optical wireless links and developed a retro-reflection-enabled tracking algorithm between the UAV and submarine nodes. We concluded with the design of RIS-assisted FSO access networks for next-generation high-speed trains. Our achievements were validated through mathematical derivations and simulations using MATLAB.
- We published one IEEE TMC journal paper, two IEEE/OSA JLT journal papers, and one AUT magazine.

- I led the mentorship of the Digital Communications Lab for three academic semesters, instructing participants on the utilization of GNU Radio Companion (GRC) and MATLAB to develop SDR-based transceivers for point-to-point wireless communications.
- Owing to my hands-on experience with SDR technology, I guided attendees in implementing and testing those designed transceivers using USRP B210 modules and RTL-SDR dongles for data communication in a lab environment.
- We defined, implemented, and successfully tested over twenty lab projects.

- As part of the Research and Development team, I contributed to the firmware development and hardware implementation of an IoT-based remote water metering platform, assisted by a wireless communication subsystem designed under LoRaWAN and GSM standards.
- We developed PCBs for distributed metering modules with onboard GSM SIM800L and LoRaWAN modules using Altium Designer software and developed their ARM Mbed microcontroller units (MCUs) in Keil Studio.

- At my first job in a tech start-up company, I was involved in assembling circuit boards for IoT-based smart home solutions.
- We focused on the hardware side of the solutions, which helped me become familiar with various electronic components and their packaging types, including DIP and SMD assembly. Additionally, we made progress in designing PCBs for these solutions using Altium Designer software and programming their STM8 and STM32 ARM-based MCUs.
